That said — severe calcified buildup that has hardened over years takes time to fully address. The tartar at the surface breaks away first. Deeper, older deposits may take 2–4 weeks of regular sessions to fully clear.

A practical approach for heavy buildup:

• Start at the edges of the buildup where the tartar is thinnest
• Work inward toward the thicker deposits over multiple sessions

Breath improvement is usually noticeable within 1–2 sessions. Visible tooth surface improvement happens fastest on the front teeth and takes slightly longer on the back molars.

Honest answer: it depends on what your vet found.
